XviD是最新的MPEG-4codec,并且是第一个真实开放源代码的,一旦终结就会通过GPL协议发布。在近来的codec比较中,我发现XviD的发挥令人惊讶的好,虽然在alpha版本中不尽人意。若作为一个beta版的测试者不会吓到你的话,XviD可能正是你所需求的。

XviD is the latest MPEG-4 codec, and is the first truly open source, and will be released under the GPL agreement once it is finalized. In a recent codec comparison, I found that XviD performed surprisingly well, although not quite as good in the alpha version. If being a beta tester doesn't scare you, XviD might be just what you need.)
