(Utilities such as Telnet and remote control programs such as Symantec's PCAnywhere allow you to execute programs on remote systems, but they are difficult to install and require you to install client software on the remote systems you want to access. PsExec is a lightweight telnet replacement that allows you to execute processes on other systems without having to manually install client software, and yet gain the proper full interactivity with console users. One of the most powerful features of PsExec is to launch an interactive command prompt window in remote systems and remote support tools (such as IpConfig) in order to display information about the remote system that cannot be displayed by other means.
